The National Weather Service says up to 1.7 feet of inundation above ground level is possible near Monterey Bay shorelines and tidal waterways. Coastal trails, beach access, parking lots and some roads may flood. Never go around barricades or through water of unknown depth.

The beach was already filling with families, swimmers and paddlers late Saturday morning. The photograph confirms active use and overcast conditions; it does not establish an official attendance count.
