ADVISORYCOASTAL FLOODING

High tides may affect shoreline access beginning at 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service says low-lying Monterey Bay shoreline areas may see up to 1.7 feet of inundation above ground level through 2 a.m. August 13. Coastal trails, beach access, lots and isolated roads could flood. Do not pass barricades or enter floodwater.

One-way traffic control at Rocky Creek Bridge

Caltrans reports continuous one-way controlled traffic roughly 15.7 miles south of Monterey at Rocky Creek Bridge through 6 a.m. August 31 due to construction.

Southbound Highway 1 Bay Avenue off-ramp closure

Caltrans District 5 announced a long-term closure of the southbound Highway 1 off-ramp at Bay Avenue beginning August 2. Drivers heading toward Capitola should plan an alternate exit.

Police seek a man after an alleged incident involving two juveniles

KSBW, citing Pacific Grove police, reports that a man allegedly shoved two juveniles around 7:15 p.m. July 31 and threw one juvenile’s e-bike from the pier into the ocean. The allegation has not been adjudicated, and MyPG.news has not independently identified the person police are seeking.

PGPD continues school-zone saturation patrols.

Police say the latest patrol resulted in 9 citations and 8 warnings while officers focused on safe driving around students, school staff, crossing guards, pedestrians and bicyclists. PGPD says these patrols will continue during the school year.

DOWNTOWN PROCESSION • AFTER NOON MASS

Expect localized pedestrian activity during the annual Fátima celebration.

The published schedule calls for a noon Mass at Saint Angela Merici Church, 146 8th Street, followed by a procession, lunch and auction. The city special-event calendar lists the event downtown on Lighthouse Avenue at 1 p.m. Follow posted directions; the reviewed sources do not specify a road closure.

CAR WEEK • INCREASED VEHICLE AND PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC

PGPD publishes a five-day Pacific Grove event and traffic guide.

Police say residents should expect more vehicles and pedestrians around Asilomar, Pacific Grove Golf Links, downtown and the shoreline. Local events include Electric Coast on Monday and Tuesday; Night Rider Tuesday evening; the Little Car Show downtown Wednesday; Legends of the Autobahn and Woodies in the Woods Thursday; and the Rotary Concours Auto Rally downtown Friday. Follow posted restrictions and allow extra travel time.

DOWNTOWN ROAD CLOSURE • NOON–5 P.M.

The Little Car Show takes over Lighthouse Avenue.

The event is scheduled across downtown Pacific Grove. The Chamber listing says Lighthouse Avenue will be closed between Fountain Avenue and Congress Avenue. Expect congestion before and after show hours and use parallel routes where possible.
